These are really good! The parallels to the Roman Republic are striking and pretty much unknown to so many people today who never studied classics or history.

You at your best, Mr. C. I’ve been reading Melville’s “Battle Pieces” the past few weeks. You’ve deftly woven lines from several of the pieces in that book into your majestic rhapsody. Hope you have a great July 4th.

Thanks Peter. Each section has lines from poems of that era. It's an homage to American poetry as much as it is a celebration of the great idea of America

I thought it ruined the reading experience to have them in, so I left them out. But I could put them in a footnote I suppose.
