This is great. I didn't realize Every Frame a Painting was active again, but I looked it up after you mentioned it. Great channel!

He is. Started it back a few months ago I think, to promote a film he directed. His channel was the OG, and best, film criticism channel. I learned a lot from it that I used in a film studies class I taught in college.

I'm hoping to get a summer film history/literacy course started at my high school. Any recommendations for texts/readings?

Yeah, I'll look through my books when I get home from work. I can't remember the names, but I have a few that I used. There's also a lot of great stuff online now. Thomas Flight, Cinemastix, Just Write, Like Stories of Old. They go over techniques, screenwriting, and more philosophical/thematic stuff. My syllabus covered different eras and genres, starting with Battleship Potemkin all the way to Thelma & Louise.

The ability to bring Muybridge into a film review has utterly sprung me. Bravo!

Thank you LaMonica. It wasn’t supposed to be just a movie review, but an essay on the different conventions of writing and film, hence why I brought in Muybridge. But I never got to the conventions of writing!
